Competitive Bowls | State Pennants

Play competitive lawn bowls in a friendly social setting on Sydney's Lower North Shore. The Neutral Bay Club plays Men's & Ladies Pennants & Mixed NUWL bowls.

Although The Neutral Bay Club is small and intimate, it has a reputation as a high achiever through the successful performances of individuals and teams across zone, group and state levels. There is a wide range of competition available that spans weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Men's: There are currently two Men’s Pennants teams, one playing No 2 Grade and the other in the No 5 Grade. Pennants are played on Saturday afternoons from 12.30pm from March through to May. New players are always welcome. Interested parties should contact Emma on 9953 2066 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Ladies: There are currently two women’s teams in the State Pennants which are played over a five week period starting in March. Two matches a week are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Currently NBC has a team in both the No 1 and No 2 grades. From its very humble beginnings in 1988, the women have performed with distinction. For the past 10 years the No 1 team has reached the State Playoffs with its greatest achievement being in 2009 when they brought home the No 1 State Pennants Runner-up flag. Another notable achievement was in 2008 when the club was able to field three pennant teams, all of which won their way through to the state playoffs. The success of women’s bowls is attributed to the encouragement given to new bowlers and the sense of camaraderie which exists amongst the players. New players always welcome. It is also a stepping stone for rookie men and women to taste their first competition. NUWL is a club versus club competition held on Saturday afternoons (12.40pm) from March to May. A team consists of 7 players who play two games of pairs and one of triples.New players always welcome. Social: In 2010, the club launched an inaugural and very successful Barbeque Bowls social bowling league on Tuesday evenings. While being very competitive, its social atmosphere makes it perfect environment for newer bowlers wishing to pick up hints and tips about the sport.
