Meet our Coaches
Director of Tennis - Paul Hoysted
Paul Hoysted has been a qualified Tennis Australia Club Professional since 1993. He has also been a lecturer and examiner with Tennis Coaches Australia, and was Vice President of Tennis Coaches NSW and Tennis Coaches Australia for more than 10 years. He has been a Director on the board of Tennis NSW for the past 7 years.
His playing record is impressive. After being ranked Number 2 Australian junior in 1983, he was awarded a tennis scholarship by The Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra the following year. From 1983-1989 he achieved a world ranking in singles and doubles, and in 1988 he played in the main draw at Wimbledon. He won the Dutch Masters twice as well as many other doubles tournaments throughout Europe. He was also a member of a 7-time winning grade 1-1 team of the MGCCA Badge Competition.
His professional coaching career is equally impressive. Initially the International Tennis Professional at the THC Club in Munster, Germany (1985-1987) he moved on to become a partner in the Castle Hill Tennis Academy (1991-96). From 1996-2001 he was Director of Tennis at the Richmond Hill Tennis Club. In 2001 he became Director of Tennis at the Royal Sydney Golf Club where he stayed until he took up the position of Director of Tennis at The Neutral Bay Club in 2012.
Paul also hosts member trips away, which included Wimbledon in 2011.
Tennis Coach - Ben Jones
Ben Jones began his career at London based clubs in England, progressing from tennis coach to Head Coach over a 12 years period. He also taught nationally ranked English juniors.
He received the ‘British Coach of the Month’ award for his work in schools, and for the junior and adult development program he created.
Ben contacted Paul Hoysted, Neutral Bay Club’s Director of Tennis, when he decided to make a new life for himself in Australia. Now established as part of the professional coaching team, he is thrilled to be integral to the development plan for the tennis program.
