The Neutral Bay Club

The Neutral Bay Club has a strong focus on competitive tennis, traditionally entering the Autumn Badge and Spring Northern Suburbs tennis competitions. The club works hard to ensure that all its full tennis members enjoy their competitive tennis and, if they wish, have the opportunity to play it throughout the year. The club's policy is to run squads of six when four players are required for a match and squads of four when three players are required. Competition members generally play two out of every three weekends during the competitive seasons. 

New members wishing to play competition tennis are generally asked to play a grading doubles with the Tennis Captains, either during Tuesday social tennis or at the weekend. This is to ensure they are placed in the team most suited to their level. For those possessing a recent Badge or NSTA grading, this is usually not necessary.

The club takes its responsibility to entertain and socialise with opposing teams very seriously, with the kitchen and bar staff providing top quality catering service for every match, enabling players to fully enjoy the post-game wind down. The club's facilities, service and food quality attract widespread admiration throughout Sydney's competitive playing base.

For Autumn Badge, the club runs between three to four Ladies' teams, usually between Grades 1.2 and 2.2 and six to eight Men's teams, usually between Grades 1.2 and 3.1. These teams are selected by the club and generally have five or six players in a squad, with four being required per match. Autumn Badge runs from March to July, with matches usually held on two courts between 12:00 - 14:30 or 14:30 - 17:00. However, some away teams may choose to play an all day match on one court, which will run from 12:00 - 17:00.

For Northern Suburbs, members have the chance to choose some of their own teammates and whether they play Mixed or Men's Doubles. Mixed squads usually have six members, with matches having four sets of Mixed, two sets of Ladies' and two sets of Men's Doubles. These matches run from 12:45 to 15:15 or from 15:30 to 18:00. Men's teams have four person squads, with matches lasting from 13:30 to 18:00 at the latest and each player playing four sets.  Northern Suburbs tennis generally runs from early September to mid December.
